Orthodontics for Children in Frederick, MD

Dr. Reddy recommends that children visit our Frederick orthodontic office at around seven years of age. This allows her to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without extractions and surgery.

Early orthodontic care (Phase I treatment) is designed to treat oral and digital habits (thumb sucking and tongue thrusting), crossbites, underbites, severe dental crowding, and severe protrusion of the front teeth. It is designed for kids between the ages of seven to ten to deal with the above concerns. It is short and quick to guide growth and control issues before they become a problem later.

Children who have Phase I treatment will typically require Phase II treatment at the age of 12 to 13. Phase II is designed for teens who have full adult dentition and have lost all their baby teeth. It involves braces or clear aligners to move teeth into their correct positions.
